Brand New Website and Other Things of Interest

Wow...a lot has happened over the last couple of weeks while the website was down being overhauled.  How do you like the "new look"? We decided to go with the black background after being inspired, listening to AC/DC's - "Back in Black", on Q107. Leave us a comment about the "new and improved" website (or anything else on your mind) in our GuestBook, found lower on this page.

As mentioned it's been a busy time...here's a wrap up to our 2006 season and a couple of new events on our 2007 calendar.

1. First...the big news. Metros relief pitcher, Graham Bailey and his wife Heather are proud parents for the second time.  Alicia Paige Bailey was born on January 4, 2007 at 9:23 A.M. at the St. Catharines General Hospital.  Alicia took after her 6'4" father right off the bat, as she weighed in at a very healthy 8 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 1/4 inches long.  Baby and mommy are doing great while daddy and big sister Jenna are pleased to have everyone home.
By the way...Alicia is also the second granddaughter for Metros General Manager, Mark Walters and his wife Debbie.  You can't seem to get the smile off their faces, even 10 days later.

2. The 2006 season wrapped up, as always, with an awesome Metros Christmas bash.  The 2006 award winners were formally announced, while the whole team received beautiful "gifts", to remember 2006 by.  Always one of the highlights of the year, the 2006 affair continued the tradition.

3.  The preparations for 2007 have begun and there are two things on the agenda for January.  The Metros are planning on acquiring new uniforms this year, and will be holding a meeting in the next week or so to, plan for that purchase.  These new uniforms will be the first since we bought the Blue, Red and White vests in 2003.  The grey uniforms, by the way, go all the way back to 1998.  Hopefully we can get our new ones to look that good after 9 years!

4.  The other agenda item is a C.O.B.A. Major Baseball League meeting, scheduled for January 29th.  This meeting will establish the teams, parks, home nights, and many other issues that the League board faces...leading up to the start of the season in May.  Should be interesting.

That's it for now...hope you like the new look of our website.  We'll be back with updates as they occur.

Niagara Metros Bi-Weekly "Baseball Film Feature"

.

This week on our "Baseball Film Feature", we are taking you back to February of 2008...and looking at the testimony that got Roger Clemens in so much trouble.  If you missed it, on August 19th a U.S. federal grand jury indicted Roger Clemens on charges of making false statements to Congress about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.

The 19-page indictment charges Clemens with three counts of making false statements and two counts of perjury in connection with his February 2008 testimony before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. According to the United States attorney's office, Clemens faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine, but under the current sentencing guidelines, a conviction would likely bring 15-21 months.

So what was it that he said that got the U.S. Congress so steamed?  We have it for you right here.  Just press play, and judge for yourself...was Roger lying??
