The C.O.B.A Major League held its final managers meeting, last night, in preparation for the new season, which begins in a little over a month.  The highlight of the meeting was the introduction and acceptance of the 2007 schedule.

We will be posting the Metros portion of the schedule on this website later in the week...but in the meantime here are a few of the highlights.

1. The season opens on May 5th with 4 games...one of those pits the Metros against Burlington at Clarkson Park in Mississauga.

2. Each team will play every other team in the league 3 times...making for a 27 game schedule.

3. The Metros first HOME game will be Thursday, May 10 at Community Park against the brand-new expansion Mississauga North Tigers

4. The season will wrap up on August 15...with the Metros final game on August 14th in Hamilton against the Glanbrook Grizzlies.

5. Playoffs begin the following weekend with everything wrapping up by Sunday, August 26.

6. This year's C.O.B.A. Major All-Star game will be played Sunday, July 22 in Oakville.

Well, it's been about a month since our last update concerning the young Metros, who are down south completing their education and playing ball at the same time.  We are very proud of these boys and, no matter what their accomplishment in the highly competitive world of U.S. college ball, we can't wait to tell people about them.  The information we're listing below is as of March 20th.

REMINDER...CHANGE TO INDOOR WORKOUTS
Just a reminder...the Metros indoor workouts return this Tuesday night, March 20th but at a new time.  The time is now 8:30 until 10:00 at Thorold High School. This time will continue until we go outside in about a month.  Wow...that's all...just one month to go until we can get outside.  We can't wait...

CHANGES TO INDOOR WORKOUTS
There are a couple of changes to the Metros' indoor workout schedule for the upcoming weeks.

First...the workout this coming Tuesday, March 13 is cancelled due to the schools being closed for March break.

Second...when we come back to the gym after the break, beginning on Tuesday, March 20, the starting time will be 8:30 (not the previous 6:30 start).  The practices will run until 10:00.  This new 8:30 starting time will continue every Tuesday until we move outside...usually sometime around the 20th of April.

Niagara Metros Bi-Weekly "Baseball Film Feature"

.

This week, on our "Baseball Film Feature" section, we have found a little gem that will make any "true ballplayer" chuckle.  It's a hilarious "home-made" film by what looks like a group of U.S. College ballplayers with a great idea about how we talk about the game we love, but in a language that only we can understand.  Check out this video, and count how many baseball euphamisms you're guilty of saying or doing when your "at the yard".  It's a little 3 minute masterpiece entitled "Shit Ballplayers Say".  And believe us when we say, "These guys can really bring the chedd..."

Don't forget to check out the Metros Archive Section!
You will see the history of our team, as well as the past glories of St. Catharines Senior Baseball in words and pictures dating back to the 1940's.
